Sarah Chidgey Hughes, or "Miss Chidgey" as she was known to her beloved students, was a devoted Spring Branch ISD teacher at Meadow Wood Elementary School in Houston, TX. Sarah was also a proud University of Texas and ZTA alum. She bravely fought Sarcoma from about March 2010 until February 2011.
The SFA Texas Chapter will be working over the next year to raise money to reach our goal of starting a Sarcoma research grant in Sarah's name. To do this, we must raise $50,000 in just over a year. A lofty goal, but one that I believe we can achieve with your support.
If you were lucky enough to have known or met Sarah, you know that she was a very special young lady who touched hearts and inspired many. Through her beautiful blog, she was able to continue her passion, teaching. She taught so many of us about love, about life, about passion, and about hope.
If you would like to learn more about sweet, wonderful Sarah, she documented her life and fight with cancer on an amazing blog:
The story she tells is powerful. It is honest, uplifting, tearful, devastating, and inspiring all at the same time. I suggest you read her blog from the beginning. You won't be disappointed. Help us raise money to reach our goal in honoring Sarah, and help find a cure for Sarcoma in our time!
